The enhanced community quarantine introduced a series of  “corona-coaster” rides of emotions, throwing the rhythm of everyone’s daily lives into a state of confusion. Physical isolation is detrimental to human health, likewise a lack of physical activity and movement. As social creatures, we thrive on human connection. Having accepted the restrictions of being at home for months amid the stress of a global health crisis, I was forced to re-evaluate my exercise regime.

After a week of monotonous speed walking on the treadmill and weightlifting, I realized I was not relieving anxiety. I turned to Yoga, which I have been a practitioner for a decade, for mindful movement. After exploring different Yoga systems, I stumbled upon Blissology Yoga. I never expected my life to be transformed from that moment forward. Moving with embodiment and breath, I relaxed my mind from excessive thinking, visualized light coming through my heart chakra, and let go of old stories that no longer serve me. I decided to use my time during the lockdown to pursue my Yoga Teaching Certification, beginning with Blissology.

In 1999, Eoin Finn founded Blissology, exploring strategies for bringing more joy, awe, love, and bliss into people’s lives. Blissology’s philosophy centers around the source of love inside all of us that is especially evident when we are quiet and present in nature. Eoin is passionate about bringing spirituality down to earth and reclaiming quiet time in nature as the greatest spiritual portal and our best source of health and happiness. Yoga, when practiced with this somatic awareness becomes fluid therapy, movement guided by innate knowledge of our anatomy and evolution.

Eoin is an ocean activist; he started Blissology EcoKarma in 2014, raising conservation and awareness through Yoga and activism for the world’s precious but imperiled coral reefs. He is often lauded as the “Thoreau of Yoga” for his eco-activism and dedication to connecting Yogis more deeply to the spirituality of nature.

The Blissology Yoga system incorporates movements inspired by surfing, qigong, and nature. Traditional Yoga practices often take place within a grid. While the physiological benefits of Blissology Yoga are undeniable (increasing mobility, strength, flexibility, and stability), you will feel the biggest changes in your mind and heart. The very reason I was drawn to Blissology is that it forces you to move with functional rotation out of the grid with embodied movement.

Yoga is not a one-size-fits-all model—the magic happens when you find the Yoga system that resonates most with you. Blissology is about tuning in to our innermost place of deep kindness and letting that be our guide in our Yoga practice. But it does not end there. Our goal is to bring this place out in all of our relationships—our relationships with our friends and family, our relationships with our communities, and with nature.

The way we practice is the way we live. If we can tune into our “wise guide inside” during our Yoga practice, we will be kinder and more sustainable toward our own self. This will ripple out into all of our relationships and we will become a positive force in this world and love will be the legacy that we leave. Blissology Yoga allows the wisdom of our innermost heart to guide our relationships.  I invite you to discover this beautiful practice on Blissology’s online classes on YouTube, the Alo Moves app, and Vimeo.
